Satan Has Nothing In The Believer

(John 14:30 KJV) Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Today is Friday the 13th. I have no idea what significance it holds for the Christian, I hope none, except another day to enjoy the Grace of God. The world looks at Friday the 13th as some type of day where many will experience “bad luck.” Of course, if you are a true believer, then you know there is no such thing as luck. God guides and controls the life of all His children. There is never a time when God is not strategically involved in the life of His children. As a matter of fact, when life gets rougher, then we rely more upon God who is in control of every situation the believer faces. (Heb 13:5 KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

One of the main reasons that people dread Friday the 13th and become so superstitious is because Hollywood has exalted Satan in movies like: The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Friday the 13th, etc. So people see these movies and in their ignorance of the truth, they begin to build fears into their lives and eventually those fears begin to manifest themselves outwardly when we see these people wearing rabbits feet or other “good luck charms.” This superstitious bondage is so real that hotels do not even have a 13th floor. This happens because there is such an atmosphere of ignorance which hangs over this world concerning the things of Satan. Now I am not saying that he does not break the sound barrier between the spirit world and the physical world.

Satan and his host of demons do have the authority to break that barrier and they do that in the form of ghosts, through a medium at a sťance, even through Ouija boards and tarot cards. The problem is when someone goes to a sťance and then hears the voice of their dear departed loved ones, they do not realize they are being deceived by Satan and his demons. When people die, there are only two immediate destinations. The saved go to be with Christ. (2 Cor 5:8 KJV) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The unsaved go to a place of silence until the last day when they will be raised to stand for judgment. (Psa 115:17 KJV) The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. (John 5:28-29 KJV) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, {29} And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The world fears Satan simply because Hollywood has taken his character and recreated it according to myth. In the last days, Satan will come deceiving people and will not be coming in fashion as Hollywood portrays him. (2 Cor 11:14 KJV) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. As we look at our opening verse in John 14:30, we see the Lord Jesus is saying that Satan has no part in Him. If we are in Christ, then Satan has no part in us either. The Bible tells us that we are to fear God. (Deu 10:20 KJV) Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. When unbelievers fear Satan, they are exalting him to the status of a god, but he is a defeated foe and that is it. Christians must never partake in any of the false superstitions which pervade society. Many in the work place today will be walking cautiously because of their superstition. Christians belong to Christ and our paths are clear. We never have to worry about things like walking under ladders or worry if a black cat walks in front of us.

As these last days come to an end, there is an epidemic of false spirituality. People do not call themselves religious anymore, instead they call themselves spiritual. I have looked at many single sites and when I look at the religious affiliation, many call themselves spiritual. That could mean anything from Christianity to being a Witch. Wicca has become a legitimate religion and tax exempt by the IRS since the mid 1980’s. Satan worship is now tax exempt. Witches claim they do not worship Satan but they worship the land and the spirits of the ancestors and other rituals but that is all part of Satanism. The Occult is alive and well in this world and is gaining status among many cultures around the world, and that includes the educated societies.

Even in the Bible we see how Saul went to the witch at Endor to see if she could conjure up Samuel. Well since Samuel had died, he was in Heaven with the Lord. Since Saul went to Satan for help, God allowed him to be deluded and the image that he saw, he believed it was Samuel. (1 Sam 28:13-14 KJV) And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. {14} And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. The reason we know that this was not really Samuel was because of the direction the image come from, out of the earth. Samuel was a child of God and was in Heaven. Saul had become so deceived, that he began to accept Satanism as the real answer from God. Herein lies the danger that many people face today, they play with the Occult and think that it is God who is favoring them with an answer, when all along they are in Satan’s playground.

No true Christian would dabble in the occult, right? Well I wonder how many Christians look at the morning paper and then glance at their horoscope? Unfortunately, many look at and many place credence in it. As a child of God we must know that even the most innocuous looking thing like a horoscope is an affront to God. Instead of trying to predict your future by asking Satan, how hard would it be to just bow your head and ask God to guide your day. Don’t fall for the subtle Satanism because it is not “just for fun.” The occult is not something that Christians should be playing with.

(Isa 47:12-14 KJV) Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. {13} Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. {14} Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

Friday the 13th is just another day. Don’t let Satan or Satan’s people try to get you to think it is any different. In fact, walk under that ladder and point out the black cat, and then walk on the cracks of the sidewalk. Be a testimony that your faith is in Christ and because of the protection from Christ, we have nothing to fear in this world.   (2/13/04)
