Affected Teaching
Jesus had come back to Capernaum and as soon as the word was published, a crowd gathered immediately at the house where He was teaching. This shows how spiritually hungry the people were and leads to a great faith lesson, in that they wasted no time in getting to the house where Jesus was. This means that the people were anxious to see Jesus. The modern versions omit this word “straightway” which means “immediately.” The way the modern versions put this incident, you could suppose the crowd took several hours or even days to gather at the house. (2 Cor 6:2 KJV) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Now is the time of salvation, not later.
