Affected Teaching

The Greek word is “odon” which means “way, road, or highway.”  It comes from the Greek word “hodos.”  So the word is correctly translated in both the King James Bible and the modern versions as “way.”  However, the insertion of either a direct or indirect article is at the discretion of the translator.  If a translator believes that there is only one way of salvation, then they will use the direct article “the.”  If they believe there are multiple ways a person can become saved, then they will insert the indirect article “a.”  In the case of the Textus Receptus Bibles including the KJB, the translators all knew that there is only one way to Heaven and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ.  However, the modern versions above including the popular Christian Standard Bible believe there are multiple ways to become saved because they use the indirect article “a” signifying that Christ is only one way to Heaven.  Even the Jehovah’s Witness Bible and the 1881 RV of Hort and Westcott got it right.  Beware of the modern counterfeits because it only takes one word to change the entire meaning of a verse.  Roman Catholics claim there is no salvation outside of their church which means the indirect article “a” plays right into their belief system teaching that they are also a way of salvation by keeping their rituals.
