Proverbs 3:21-25

Prov 3:21 (KJB)
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Let them not depart - May also be translated “may they not deviate”
Discretion - Thoughts or plans
Wisdom - Judgments or the ability to make proper decisions

Here Solomon admonishes all Christians to make sure that we never deviate from the straight teachings of Scripture which are the wisdom of God. Sometimes we tend to bend the meanings of Scripture to fit what we want but here we are being warned that we must never depart from the teachings which God has given or else we can be in for some serious hardships. Too many times we hear teachings mixed with worldly systems such as sociology or psychology and whenever we mix the teachings of God with worldly systems we are departing from the truths of Scripture. Whenever we refuse to deviate from the Scriptures, we will then be given the ability to make proper judgments concerning things in life plus we will have sound thoughts. If we amalgamate the teachings of Scripture with other systems, that will hinder us from having the ability to make unadulterated judgments.

Prov 3:22 (KJB)
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Just as a fine piece of jewelry is worn about the neck augmenting the clothes on the person, so grace is like a fine piece of jewelry. The Christian’s life is adorned with the grace of God as all of their sins are forgiven and they are walking in right relationship with Him. The true wisdom of God, which is given to the believer through the Scriptures and through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit gives evidence that they are a child of God. This is eternal life to the soul as pure wisdom is used each day in the life of the Believer.

Prov 3:23 (KJB)
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Safely - Secure

If a Christian continues to use the wisdom of God in their life, then their walk will be secured as they will not fall prey to the temptations of the world. Their feet will not even stumble because as they have the wisdom to discern situations, they will avoid the pitfalls, even the very small ones which could have further consequences. This is the wisdom of staying upon the wisdom of God.

Prov 3:24 (KJB)
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

(Psa 4:8 KJV) I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. David knew what it was to transfer total trust to the Lord to the extent that he never even feared to go to sleep at night knowing that the Lord will be watching over him. When we trust fully in the Lord and do not allow the problems of the world to invade our peace, we too shall lie down without fear and have pleasant sleep. It is when we look around at the problems and view them as bigger than God instead of the other way around is when our peace is broken and we begin to live anxious lives. (Psa 121:3 KJV) He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Prov 3:25 (KJB)
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

There is going to come a day when all the unsaved of the world will be judged at the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we are walking in obedience to the Lord and in His wisdom, we never have to fear what will come upon those who are unsaved. (1 Th 5:2 KJV) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. The day of the Lord is going to come swiftly as a thief in the night robs a home. Those who are unsaved will not be prepared for this day but those who have become saved, have prepared for this day from the moment of their salvation. This verse can even apply to natural disasters on earth as the unbeliever chalks it up to bad circumstances and has no view of the situation except what they can see but the Believer can see past any natural disaster and look to the Lord for recourse in any situation. They know that nothing on earth happens without the knowledge and permission of the Lord and as His children we go to Him immediately.
