Mormonism is not Christian
nor is it Good and Moral
By Dr. Ken Matto

With the 2012 Presidential elections already in full swing, Mitt Romney, the ex-Governor of Massachusetts has once again thrown his hat in the ring. I am not disputing his ability as a leader or a business man. What I am disputing is the general descriptions that many Christians are attributing to Mormonism. I have heard many claim that they are good moral people. Pastor Robert Jeffress, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas called Mormonism a cult and he is correct. Then I saw him in an interview with Atheist Bill Maher on his show calling Mormons good and moral people.

Doesn’t Pastor Jeffress reject double talk? Does he not understand that Mormonism was founded upon a principle of adultery by the name of polygamy. Adultery does not constitute moral and good. The Bible is very clear that before salvation no one is good.

(Psa 14:3 KJV) They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
(Psa 53:3 KJV) Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
(Rom 3:12 KJV) They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

God emphasizes that fact in three verses both in the Old and New Testaments which means that there is no good person on earth. How can one be good who has a sinful nature in constant rebellion against God?

(Mat 19:16-18 KJV) And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? {17} And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. {18} He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

One came to Jesus and called Him “Good Master.” Jesus then makes a very strange statement. He takes what the man says and rejects it. “And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God:…” Now why did Jesus do that when we know that He truly is the Good Master. The reason He did that was because the man came to Him as one who addressed a man and not Christ as God in the flesh, so Jesus was redirecting his thinking that there are no good men on earth. Jesus was basically stating that in comparison to the goodness of God, no man could come close to goodness since all was in rebellion against Him. This is what Jesus wanted Him to see that he needed salvation.

These Christians who claim the Mormons are good and moral people neglect to compare their lives to what the Bible teaches. They are not born again and they reject salvation by grace through Christ which means they are unsaved and at enmity with God. (1 John 2:23 KJV) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Since they deny the Son and their theological definitions are much different than true Biblical Christianity, it means they do not have the Father either. They are all unsaved and in a satanic cult. We will look at many of their teachings showing what a blasphemous religion Mormonism is.

If there were any good and moral people on this earth, then what would have been the purpose of Christ going to the cross. They could get to Heaven by their own goodness and would not need a Savior. The reality is that there is not one person on earth who is not born in a sinful condition and needs to be redeemed through Christ for salvation.

(Psa 58:3-5 KJV) The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. {4} Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; {5} Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

The Bible does speak of a good man but how does one become a good man? Once again, a person becomes a good person by becoming saved.

(Psa 37:23 KJV) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
(Prov 12:2 KJV) A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
(Mat 12:35 KJV) A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Notice in these three verses it speaks about a good man. Psalm 37:23 speaks about the Lord guiding the steps of a good man or one who is saved. Proverbs 12:2 speaks about two opposing men, one is the good man (saved) who obtains favor from the Lord and the other is the wicked (unsaved) who is condemned by the Lord. Then Matthew 12:35 speaks about the treasure of the good man’s heart which brings forth good things but the heart of the evil man brings forth evil things. (Eph 2:10 KJV) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. The good works that the Christian brings forth is the proclamation of the true gospel leading people to salvation in Christ. This is the fruit of salvation that we bear much fruit in Christ. (John 15:8 KJV) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. The Mormons do not bring forth fruit in the truth of the Gospel which means their fruit is rotten or better yet, evil and satanic. (Mat 23:15 KJV) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Just like scribes and Pharisees, the Mormons compass land and sea to make one proselyte and when they do, they are twice as much a child of hell as the one who brought them into the cult.

People think that they are so cute because they dress in black and white and ride bicycles. The reality is that they are coming to you representing Satan and desiring to take your soul to Hell for eternity. The Mormons are not moral and good people because they are included in the millions who are unsaved and at enmity with God. Any Christian, media or not, who refuses to look at them the way the Bible does, is a traitor to the cause of Christ. Don’t get up in your pulpit and tell your people they have to repent and then turn around and claim an anti-Christ cult is moral and good.

Now what I want to do is to get into their belief system and bring to you what they believe and you will see how heinous their beliefs are and how they blaspheme Christ and twist the truths of the Scriptures.

God
We believe in God the Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. (AF,1)

This cannot rationally be construed to mean that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one in substance and in person. (AF-Pg. 40)

There are three Gods…separate in personality, united in purpose, in plan, and in all attributes of perfection. (MD-Pg. 670)

God is an organized being just as we are who are now in the flesh. He is a progressive being, and possess the capacity of eternal increase. Perhaps once a child and mortal like ourselves. (GD-Pg. 64, AF-Pg. 529, JD 1:123)

The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s. (DC-130:22)

God is not omnipresent…cannot be “physically” in more than one place at a time. (DC-Pg. 48)

Every man who reigns in celestial glory is a god to his dominions. (MD-Pg. 322)

There never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds. (D-Pgs. 22-23)

Each god, through his wife or wives, raises up a numerous family of sons and daughters. (TS, 1, No. 3, P.37)

The doctrine of a plurality of Gods is prominent in the Bible. The heads of the Gods appointed our God for us. (TPJS-Pgs. 370-72)

God the Father is a simply a man who achieved godhood. (HC-V. 6, Pg. 305)

God Himself is ever progressing upward in knowledge, wisdom, and power. (JD-V. 1- Pg. 93, V. 6-Pg.120)

God the Father has eternal wives through whom spirit children have been and continue to be born. (MD, 1966-Pg. 516; TS-Pg. 37, 158)

Christ, before his earthly ministry, was the first spirit child born to the Heavenly Father and Mother. (MD-Pgs. 278, 589)

God the Father in His glorified physical body had sexual intercourse with the Virgin Mary that resulted in the conception of the physical Christ. (MD-Pg. 547; JD-Vol. 1, Pg. 51; Vol. 4, Pg. 218)

Christ
Satan [Lucifer] was originally the spirit brother of Christ. (GTTA-Pg. 15)

Jesus was man’s spiritual brother (the result of the Father’s intercourse with His Eternal Wife before the earth was formed) but became a god, equal to the Father, after his death, ascension and exaltation. (GTTA-1958, P. 21)

Among the spirit children of Elohim, the firstborn was and is Jehovah or Jesus Christ, to whom all others are juniors. (GD-Pg. 70)

By obedience and devotion he attained to the pinnacle of intelligence which ranked him as a God, even in his pre-existent state. (MD-Pg. 192)

Jesus Christ was the executive in the work of creation, aided by Michael (or Adam), Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, James, John, Joseph Smith, and others. (MD-Pg. 169)

He was born of the Virgin Mary. Elohim is literally the Father of the Spirit and of Jesus Christ, and also of the body. (DC-Pg. 466)

He is essentially greater than all others, by reason of his unique status in the flesh as the offspring of a mortal mother and an immortal, or resurrected and glorified Father. He died on the cross, rose again, and is coming again in power and glory to set up his kingdom on earth. (DC-Pg. 472)

"In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints 'do not believe in the traditional Christ.' 'No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak'" (LDS Church News, week ending June 20, 1998, p.7).

"It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ than is worshipped by the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (LDS Seventy Bernard P. Brockbank, Ensign, May 1977, p.26 )

Twelfth President Spencer W. Kimball wrote, "Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators ... The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah." (Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, pp. 32-33)

Sin is upon every earth that ever was created ... Consequently every earth has its redeemer, and every earth has its tempter; and the people thereof, in their turn and time, receive all that we receive, and pass through all the ordeals that we are passing through" (JD-14:71-72) (Brigham Young is teaching here that Christ is only one of many Saviors)

Equally blasphemous is Brigham Young's teaching that Christ had a nature similar to that found in mankind. “In 1857 he taught that while Christ was "tabernacling in the flesh, he was more or less contaminated with fallen nature. While he was here, in a body that his mother Mary bore him, he was more or less connected with and influenced by this nature that we have received. According to the flesh, he was the seed of Adam and Eve, and suffered the weaknesses and temptations of his fellow mortals" (JD 6:95-96)

"But under certain circumstances there are serious sins for which the cleansing of Christ does not operate, and the law of God is that men must then have their own blood shed to atone for their sins." (MD-Pg. 92)

"Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and its cleansing power. Much that is believed and taught on this subject, however, is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one's salvation. Many go so far, for instance, as to pretend, at least, to believe that if we confess Christ with our lips and avow that we accept Him as our personal Savior, we are thereby saved. (In the LDS tract entitled, What the Mormons Think of Christ (1973, pg. 22))

Christ’s blood shed on the cross only provides for the universal resurrection of all people and does not pay for personal sin. (Third Article of Faith from Journey of Discourses, Vol. 3., P. 247; MD-Pgs 62, 669

Christ’s “blood” shed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:44) atones for most personal sin. (Church News, 10/9/1982)

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Ghost is “a personage of Spirit.” He does not have a body of flesh and bones like the Father and the Son. (DC-130:22)

He is “the influence of deity, the light of Christ, or of truth” (GD-Pg. 60)

He can only be in one place at one time although he emanates from Deity like electricity, or the universal ether…which fills the earth and the air, and is everywhere present. (MD-Pgs. 359, 753)

Man
Each person’s essence, his intelligence, has always existed and so was never created. Man is as eternal as God Himself. (JD-Vol.10, Pg. 5; Vol. 6, Pg. 6; DC-93.29; The plan of salvation booklet Pg. 3)

Each person’s spiritual body (which looks like his earthly body) that clothed his intelligence in the pre-existent state was formed by the sexual union of the Father and one of His spirit wives. (TS-Pg. 37)

Adam’s fall in the Garden of Eden was a “fall upward” that was not sinful, but rather necessary for the propagation of the human race. (JD-Vol. 13, Pg.145; Vol. 10-Pg 312; PGP-Moses 5:10-12; DS-Vol. 1. Pgs. 114-115)

Adam’s fall in the Garden of Eden “became a necessary, honorable act in carrying out the plan of the Almighty” (SAT-Pg. 160)

Man has the potential of becoming God, just as Christ did; man is king of kings and lord of lords in embryo. ( JD-Vol. 10, Pg. 223; DC-132:20; TAS-August 1, 1844; HC-Vol. 6, Pg. 306)

A baptized Mormon convert has his Gentile blood purged and replaced by the blood of Abraham via the Holy Spirit. Thus he becomes the actual offspring of Abraham. (HC-Vol. 3, Pg. 380; JD-Vol. 2, Pg. 269)

Summary
As we have plainly seen the doctrines of the Mormon Church and its offshoot the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are very blasphemous. It is like Satan held the tablet while these Mormons wrote their doctrines on it. After reading these portions of the beliefs, can anyone actually claim that Mormonism creates people that are good and moral. If anything, it creates people who are more blasphemous, antagonistic and truth hating. Its fruit is rotten and satanic as it is clearly opposed to the true Gospel. Mormonism is not moral and good but it is very evil and evil is not a source for goodness and morality. They are a mission field and not brethren in Christ. Woe unto anyone who equates this cult with the truth of Christianity just for popularity or for any reason whatsoever.
