Affected Teaching
This verse is teaching us that we need to watch, to be vigilant in our Christian walk because we do not know when the Lord is going to return, plus He does not want us slacking off. This is why we are given this warning. The modern versions omit the most important part of this verse which is the reason we are to be watching. The modern versions just tell us that we don’t know the day nor the hour. Day or the hour for what? Our favorite TV program? Suppertime? Without the omitted part, this verse really makes no sense. The King James Bible warns us to be on the alert and not to slack off in our Christian walk because we do not know when the Lord Jesus Christ is going to return. The Christians must remain watchful in these last days. The modern versions warn us of nothing and keeps their readers guessing.
