Affected Teaching
Verse 60 is a fulfillment of the prophecy made by Jesus back in Luke 22:34. Luke 22:34 (KJV) And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. Jesus was speaking of a specific rooster which would crow upon the third denial of Christ by Peter. When Peter made his third denial, then Jesus looked at him when the cock crew. The modern versions exchange a definite article for an indefinite article giving it the notion that it was a coincidence that a rooster crowed just at the right time. As with the donkey that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on, it was a specific donkey not just any one they could find. Matthew 21:2 (KJV) Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. As with the donkey, so it was with the rooster, a specific one. Everything was planned in advance by Jesus and there was nothing left to chance as the modern versions intimate.
