Luke 17:35-37

Luke 17:35 (KJB)
Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Then there will be two women grinding at the mill. The women would grind the grain in a small hand mill to make flour for fresh bread. This means that they were expecting their husbands to come home from work as part of the normal routine and she would have dinner waiting for him and the family if they had one. Here like in the field, one is taken and one is left. The one that is taken, is taken to judgment. (Luke 17:37 KJV) And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. This also shows us that some will be ready for the Lord’s return because they heeded the signs but they did not sit home looking for the date or on a mountaintop waiting in white robes.

Luke 17:36 (KJB)
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

On that day the Lord returns, there will be a great separation. (Mat 25:32 KJV) And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: One taken and one left in the field. This also confirms the teaching of the previous verses that life will be going along as usual because here two people are working and not expecting the return of Christ. The one who is taken is taken to judgment.

Luke 17:37 (KJB)
And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Some have interpreted this to mean that it is the eagle of the Roman legions which destroyed Jerusalem, however, that cannot be since the Lord has already answered the question concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and is now answering the question concerning His return. When the Lord Jesus Christ returns, He will be returning on the last day. That day will be the crowning day for the true believers and it will be Judgment day for the unbelievers. (John 5:28-29 KJV) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, {29} And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. There is no seven year time period between them. The Lord has in view that when He returns, He will take the believers with Him and the unbelievers will go to judgment. (Mat 25:31-32 KJV) When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: {32} And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: So those who are taken, are the ones who are taken to judgment which is the Great White Throne Judgment where the final separation of the believers from the unbelievers will happen. This is why the Lord uses the term of “eagles and dead bodies” because they both denote death and the vultures eating the bodies denote the fact that hell will be their final destination. (Mark 9:44 KJV) Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Just as a vulture picks at his prey, in hell there will be something that will gnaw the unbelievers which is described as a worm. Jesus associated this with Gehenna or hell.
