The Alliance's Statement About Family Radio
We have received notice that Family Radio has cancelled the airing of Dr. Boices messages on The Bible Study Hour on their network of stations effective August 4. The decision was made by Mr. Harold Camping, president of the network, after our insistence that Family Radio not edit Dr. Boices messages according to Mr. Campings recent teachings that the Church-age has ended.
We took several steps to discuss this with Family Radio over a six-month period, including sending letters of concern late last year and earlier this year, multiple discussions with the programming staff, a meeting with Mr. Camping in late June, and then finally a formal letter from us to Mr. Camping stating our position.
Their decision saddens us for a number of reasons. First, we had hoped to persuade Mr. Camping to reconsider his erroneous position and teaching on the Church. Second, we regret that many people, who depend on Family Radio for biblical teaching, will now be left with fewer options for sound teaching. Finally, we are grieved that believers are being led astray by the false teaching. A full statement on this issue will be available shortly.
We are asking you to do two things:
1. First, pray about this situation. Mr. Campings teachings are wrong and are harming the Church.
2. Second, write Family Radio directly to let them know of your concern about the direction they are taking.
Regarding The Bible Study Hour specifically, see the updated station listing in this issue to help you find other ways to tune into the broadcast in your area. You may also listen via the Internet at www.AllianceNet.org or subscribe to the program on cassette tape.
Were very sorry for the inconvenience this change brings.
The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals exists to call the church, amidst our dying culture, to repent of its worldliness, to recover and confess the truth of God's Word, as did the Reformers, and to see that truth embodied in doctrine, worship, and life.
