- (2 Pet 3:8 KJV) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a
thousand years, and a thousand years as one
day.
-
- It states that a thousand years is "as" one day
and one day is "as" a thousand years. The word
"as" in the Greek is the relative adverb "ws"
(hos) which is translated in the New Testament as "like, when, as,
after." It is a very popular word in New Testament usage. A
relative adverb is used as a particle of comparison. It is
NEVER translated "is." Therefore Camping's
calendar has failed by 7,000 years because this verse is a key to
his so-called "line of time clues." Camping has twisted this
Scripture to make it say that a day is a thousand years or a
thousand years is a day with the Lord. First of all, there is no
time in heaven because that is where the Lord is. Secondly, 2 Peter
3:8 is not a time clue for a calendar but it is a reference to
eternity and its relationship to time on earth. In eternity, a day
is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day because
eternity is a different dimension.
Below is a quotation from his book, "We Are Almost There" and you can
see in his own writing how he distorts this verse. He does not
even go near the words "as" because he knows that it would mean
the death knell for his Genesis 7:4-2 Peter 3:8 connection. Maybe
he really does not know the difference between the words "is" and "as."
In Genesis 7:4, God tells Noah that in seven days the flood will begin
and Camping forces a connection of seven days meaning 7,000 years by
connecting it with 2 Peter 3:8.
"God says, "one
day is
with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one
day." Immediately we see that God is
speaking of this one thing two times. That is, first, He declares, "one
day is
. . . as a thousand years." Then He
repeats this information by saying, "a
thousand years as one day."
This further greatly enhances the importance of
the fact that all true believers are to absolutely know that a day
is a thousand years." - From Page 56 of
"We are Almost There"
(Gen 7:4 KJV) For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon
the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance
that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
Will somebody please show me where God says these 7 days are seven
thousand years? Camping does not concern himself with what is
written in the Bible since his allegorical method denies the wording
of Scripture and replaces it with his personal meanings according to
his own belief system.
- I do hope those who follow Camping will take a serious look at
this verse and the word behind "as." This verse CANNOT be used as
en earthly time clue because Heaven is in view and Camping has
stated many times that "day and night" cannot be applied to
eternity, yet he applies it to his calendar.
