Can a True Christian be Neutral?
One of the developments of the Depart Out Teachings is that some Christians are choosing to remain neutral or they are using the excuse that they are waiting for more information. There is no such thing as neutrality in the Christian walk. Either you are for or against something. The real reason that many will not take a stand against the heresy of this teaching is for one reason only, that Harold Camping is the originator of this study. It is easy for a person to take a stand against the official cults or even the Charismatic movement with all their signs and wonders, but against Harold Camping? Never! This is because many feel that when he speaks, God is speaking. Well that is the farthest thing from the truth. Does the Bible have anything to say about taking sides in a serious issue? It sure does.
(Exo 32:26 KJV) Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
In this verse we see Moses stating that all those who were on the Lords side should gather themselves to him. This scenario was the culmination of the making of the golden calf in which the Israelites saw that Moses delayed from coming off the mount. This golden calf represented the false religions of Egypt. It was probably of Apis, the sacred bull god. This calf represents the incursion of a false gospel coming into the midst of Gods people and causing them to sin against the Lord by means of making a feast to it. When a false gospel comes into the church or over the radio, is the judgment criteria of that false gospel the Bible, or do we factor in the person who is bringing it and then make the judgment? The Bible is the final authority and is the judge of all teachings, no matter who is bringing it. The Depart Out Teachings have been shown to be a very base heresy.
(Rev 3:15-16 KJV) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. {16} So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
In these verses in Revelation, God is making a very plain declaration. Either you are cold or hot, or else He will vomit you out. God does not endorse fence sitters who have to wait and see. The Depart Out Teachings is a fragmented, loose end, fill in the blanks study. This study cannot be harmonized but bits and pieces have to be created each day to support Campings view. Those who are riding the fence are not studying their Bible to see how this teaching abuses the true meanings of Scripture.
(Josh 24:15 KJV) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
In the above verse God is making another statement. Who will you serve? God or the false gods? The principle is the same for us today. Who will we serve? Are we going to serve God in truth or are we going to be like the Israelites who failed to drive out the Canaanites and allowed them to dwell in the land? Are we going to allow false gospels and teachings to coincide with the truths we hold? The answer should be no. It is inherent in every true child of God to completely annihilate false teachings from taking any hold in our lives. Truth and false cannot co-exist! Can light and darkness co-exist? The Kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan cannot co-exist in harmony. True teachings and false teachings cannot co-exist in harmony.
