Mark 13:32
The Son or Children?

(Mark 13:32 KJV) But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Another Camping heresy which has come to light concerns Mark 13:32.  They are forcing an interpretation of a word which is not there.
It is focusing on the words "the Son" in this passage which they claim can also be translated as "children."  They then go and build on the false interpretation that replacing the word with "the children" is more biblical because it refers to the children of darkness, those who are unsaved will not know the day nor the hour.  Once again the Campingite method of false hermeneutics comes into play.  The word "Son" in Mark 13:32 is a singular word and is not plural (huios) as the word "children" is.  It is specifically referring to the Lord Jesus Christ as He spoke.  When the word is translated in the plural it is spelled differently:

(Luke 1:16 KJV) And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. > huion

(Luke 6:35 KJV) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. >>huious

(Mat 5:45 KJV) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.>>huioi

(Acts 10:36 KJV) The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)>>huiois

These are the only 4 plural usages of the word "huios" in the New Testament.  To take a singular word and exchange it for a plural word, perverts the word and thus destroys the true meaning of the passage and creates nothing more than rank heresy.  If a word is singular in the Greek, it must be translated singular in the English.  The problem with using the Strong's Concordance is that it does not give all the ways the word is used, such as singular or plural.  This causes one to pick and choose the way they want to understand this.  This is a standard practice of Harold Camping and his minions.

In Mark 13:32, the Lord was saying that He did not know the time of His return as the Son of Man and not as the Son of God.  As the Son of God He has perfect knowledge and does know the day of His return. He was stating this principle for our benefit, that we as humans, will not know when He is going to return and that is why there are so many verses in the Scriptures teaching that we must be ready and we must be working, it has nothing to do with following timelines.

(Acts 1:7 KJV) And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

The passage states "HIS OWN POWER" and not ours.

(Mat 25:13 KJV) Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

If you will notice that in Matthew 25:13, the Lord is stating that the disciples will not know the day or hour of His return, which means that none of His Elect will know the day or hour of his return and this fits in perfectly with the explanation offered on Mark 13:32.  The word for "neither" in the Greek may also be translated as "not."  In fact, the word "ou" is always translated as a negative in the New Testament when a direct response is asked for.  It is a past participle which is a perfect participle.  The words "ye know" are in the perfect tense which means a completed action.  So combined with the perfect participle it tells us that the case is closed, in that, the day of Christ's return can never be figured out by man.  It is a closed issue by divine decree and will never be opened by man.

One more important thing.  If Jesus did not know the day of his return and then His Father suddenly sent Him back, then this would be nothing more than "open theism" which teaches that God does not know everything and He learns as He goes along.  This is a blatant heresy and that is why Jesus was conveying to us the principle of not knowing the day and hour of his return, because it is not for us to know, only Him as the Son of God and the Father knows.  He was trying to get His disciples to understand that they were responsible for getting the gospel out to the world and not to get tied down with date setting.  Date setting is an absolute diversion from evangelism and reaps absolutely no fruit.  In fact all it produces is an incessant list of "what if's" and other questions which just engender more questions.

(2 Tim 3:7 KJV) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

It is amazing that they have been studying these timelines for about 7 years, some since 1992, and yet they still cannot come to agreement on a date.  I wonder if they realize that they have been sent a strong delusion.
