Affected Teaching
This week’s verse shows an attack on the eternal word of God in the modern versions by omitting the words “For ever.” Apparently these Gnostics do not believe that the word of God is eternal and have removed the words in the Greek texts and the modern version editors have followed suite. Do these false version editors actually think they will not be held accountable for mutilating the word of God? The sorry thing is that the majority of Christians look up to these people. What does the word of God say about the word of God?

(Psa 119:89 KJV) LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
(Psa 105:8 KJV) He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
(Isa 40:8 KJV) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

The word of God is forever settled in Heaven and shall stand forever. It is not just for some temporary time period. God’s word is eternal and must be treated as such. Maybe the Gnostics felt that if the word is not eternal, then there will be no accountability?
